PARCS Choir

In April 2013 PARCS launched its Community Singing Group, also known as ‘PARCS choir’. The group meets weekly and is facilitated by Janet Ayers who is a Natural Voice Practitioner (http://www.naturalvoice.net/).

Practitioners believe that singing is everybody’s birthright. For thousands of years all over the world people have sung to express, joy, celebration and grief and to accompany work, devotion and the rituals of life without worrying about having ‘a good voice’ or ‘getting it right’.

It’s about building accepting, non-judgemental communities that sing together’.

The sessions aim to:

  • Be fun
  • Accommodate mixed levels of experience
  • Avoid technical language and musical jargon
  • Teach in a traditional way by ear
  • Use physical and vocal fun warm ups to facilitate voice health and confidence

The group is open to Women and men who are currently accessing support and counselling provided by PARCS contact PARCS for more details admin@parcs.org.uk

Participant Feedback

Thank you for organising the ‘finding your voice’ evening. I was really nervous and I sat in the car outside for ages before I finally plucked up the courage to come in, but I am very glad I did I had a wonderful time, all my fears were put to rest there was such a relaxed and non judgemental atmosphere. Anyone who is unsure about coming along should definitely give it a go, be brave, you won’t regret it!
