We run two drop in groups from our centre in Portsmouth, held in our kitchen with access to the garden.
The groups are facilitated by two of the PARCS team and one volunteer.
The groups run on:
Monday group: 1pm to 4pm
Wednesday group: 10am to 1pm
Who can access the groups?
The groups are open for women (aged 18 years and above) who have been referred to us, or have accessed the charity at any time in the past.
They can be accessed for as long or as little as is needed.
Support for men
In response to demand, we are planning to run a group for men starting in Autumn 2019.
Meeting other men who have been through similar experiences can be very helpful in challenging feelings of isolation. The closed groups will be held at our centre, and run for a period of 8 weeks, providing opportunities to learn from each other and to develop a wider range of coping strategies.
What do the groups do?
The groups provide a safe space where individuals can build their confidence by supporting each other and getting support from our team.
The groups aims are:
- To encourage and empower group members to contribute.
- To put forward what topics and activities they would like to see included
- To provide information about health and wellbeing, wider opportunities like education, training and fitness and access to a computer.
